Chapelle d'Ausone

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
0,75
Red
In his notes on this vintage, Alain Vauthier reminds us of the antiquity of Ausone and that only three families have succeeded each other here since the 14th century. Today it is the 11th generation through Pauline Vauthier who manages this remarkable vineyard at the pinnacle both literally and figuratively of Saint Emilion. This bright violet crimson coloured wine has very rich, quite exotic red fruit flavours; a round, seamless and quite flattering structure with a velvety texture; spice and creamy tannins leading to a finish that reverberates on the palate. This is a great Ausone that is extremely approachable but will probably gain in tannic structure with time to become long lived. (FM)
