Brother and sister, Jacques and Anne Thienpont and their two families bought the Château in the Spring of 2016 so supervised the aging and bottling of this vintage. This wine comes from vineyards planted at the tip of the limestone plateau, which stretches west to Saint-Emilion. These are the best parcels of the estate situated on the outskirts of the village of Saint-Philippe d'Aighuilhe with subsoils of clay and limestone. The blend is 95% Merlot grapes and 5% Cabernet Franc grapes. Thanks to the weather conditions for this vintage and the percentage of new oak, the wine has an attractive bright, dark ruby colour, is fresh and spicy on the nose with aromas of plums and sloes. It has a good, generous structure with notes of oak, cloves, spice and dark fruit on the palate which leads to a round and full finish. Drink now for next five years.
