Château Grand Corbin Despagne (BIO)

François Despagne is justifiably proud of his trio of great vintages 2018-2019-2020. He attributes the balance in his wines to the low Ph thanks to organic farming which helps calm the alcohol levels in the wines. What struck us about the 2020 was its beautiful purity. The wine has a dark, glossy colour and a lovely attack with ripe cassis and plummy fruit. On the attack it is smooth, spicy and interesting with lots of buzz and energy. The Merlot grapes give the flavours of black fruits while the Cabernet Franc gives red fruit flavours with lots of energy to the wine. With well composed tannins, this is a very impressive wine which is good value for money. (FM)
