Château La Tour Figeac

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Classé
1,5
Red
This biodynamic estate next to Figeac was badly hit by the frosts in the Spring of 2017 with a loss of 95% of their production. A tiny amount of 3,000 bottles was produced from an unusual blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot. What was made is well worth seeking out as the wine combines rich fruit with the type of acidity associated with organic viticulture. There are lovely fruit flavours of black cherry, ripe plums and blackberries, a fine tannic structure and slightly savoury notes of dark coffee and chocolate. On the finish there is an abiding freshness and a lingering perfume of autumn fruits.
