We have a very good selection of St. Estèphe Cru Bourgeois wines now and we love their quality and consistency. Climate change seems to suit these wines: they ripen slowly and display lovely ripe flavours as well the freshness associated by this appellation of the northern Médoc. Le Crock, owned by the Cuvelier family of Léoville-Poyférré, is charmingly forward this year with good freshness and fragrance of peonies, violets and roses. It has fresh black fruit character, an attractive vein of acidity running through it and a lush reverberation on the finish. (FM)
