Chateau Léoville Poyferre

Saint-Julien
2ième Grand Cru Classé
0,75
Red
Mildew, incomplete berry set and a lot of berry selection led to very reduced yields here where the harvest was drawn out until the 12th of October. Made from a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, we tasted the new wine together with Didier Thomann (Maitre de Chai) and Sara Lecompte-Cuvelier (Director and Co-owner). They seemed relieved that after all the obstacles, their wine has turned out as well as it has. The nose is perfumed and lively with scents of rose and violet, caramel and plums, crushed cassis and pepper. The texture is a highlight of Poyferré with its creamy, smooth tannins. Charming and lively in the finish.
