Château Lynch-Bages

Pauillac
5ième Grand Cru Classé
0,75
Red
The new cellar at Lynch-Bages was the talk of the En Primeur week in Bordeaux. Designed by Didi Pei (son of I.M. Pei, creator of the Louvre Pyramid) this monumental building makes you stop and consider how Lynch-Bages has grown in stature over the years. With over 100 hectares in the heart of Pauillac, Lynch-Bages 2020 is concentration blended with charm. There are fresh, floral and fruity notes of violets, blueberries and blackcurrant; the tannins are quite virile but energetic and need some time to unfurl; the finish is classic Lynch-Bages with structure, intensity and lots of Cabernet fruit. It may take a decade or so for the wine to find its sweet spot between fresh, juicy cassis flavours and persistent notes of cedar, tobacco, balsam and forest floor, but there is lots of potential here.
