Run since 1994 by Nicolas Thienpont, Pavie Macquin has a priviledged site on the limestone plateau of St. Emilion. As usual, this wine has a very dark and intense colour, is rich and spicy on the attack and very exuberant. Lovely nose of roses, violets and red fruit, then rather high toned with bright, precise fruity notes and well-integrated oak. Very silky and glossy, this is probably the best Pavie Macquin tasted en primeur. Drink 2026-2040
