This is the best Phélan-Ségur that I have tasted en primeur and continues the run of success over the last few vintages. It has a dark crimson colour, a warm, inviting nose of chocolates, plums, sweet berry compote which leads to a charming, lively and fresh palate where the tannins come in to play bringing ripe, slightly smoky fruit and a beautiful, elegant strcuture. This is lively, happy St. Estèphe with a very typical Phélan character of rich fruit layered by fine tannins. Impressive. (FM)
