Domaine Georges Vernay

This wine comes from three granite parcels on the Côte-Rôtie and some of the grapes are fermented as whole berries to preserve the freshness. A small amount of Viognier grapes (5%) was added to the Syrah to give it a little aromatic lift. In a warm vintage such as 2019, the grapes became very ripe, so careful vinification and aging have allowed the wine to evolve slowly, to become finer and fresher. There is beautiful, lively tannic intensity and lingering aromas of violets, peonies, and blackcurrant in the finish. This wine will age well.
