    Atlantic Way
    Rias Baixas D.O.
    0.75l White
    €9.50 €7.85
Those of you who have already tasted the fresh, modern wines from La Bascula (The Charge, Catalan Eagle and No Stone Unturned) made by South African winemaker Bruce Jack and Master of Wine Ed Adams, will not be surprised to learn that the team is onto another winner with the Atlantic Way Albariño. Fresh, lively and tangy, you can practically feel the Atlantic waves pounding the Galician coast. There is lots of flavour here too with notes of fennel, ferns and fresh herbs, salty acidity and lots of zippy fruit on the palate leading to a long, dry finish. Albariño is having a huge success throughout the wine world at the moment – think of a more southern Muscadet with a Spanish twist. This excellent version has already won lots of admirers. Serve as an aperitif or with fresh shellfish or salads – presented in a screw-cap this is a fun wine for no-fuss entertaining.

    Weingut Dreissigacker (BIO)
    Organic Riesling Trocken Rheinhessen
    0.75l White
    Bio
    €11.70 €9.67
Jochen Dreissigacker has become a driving force in the quality revolution in the Rheinhessen and like his mentor, Klaus Peter Keller, his rise to fame and quality has been impressive, especially for the dry, pure Rieslings that he makes. Working with the mineral elements in the vineyard, the local climate and Germany’s greatest grape variety, his wines have great drive and acidity. Although the vineyards were hit by hail in August, the remaining harvest was excellent, with picking starting very early in the beginning of September. This wine has great balance between ripe fruit and acidity, lovely aromas of peaches and peachstones, fine concentration on the palate and lovely structure. A wine that is drinking well now but will keep for several years.

    Marigny-Neuf (BIO)
    Val de Loire
    0.75l Rosé
    Bio
    €7.34 €6.07
A rosé made from 60% Gamay, 20% Cabernet and 20% Pinot Noir grapes, grown in Vienne between the Loire Valley and Poitiers. This is an organic wine, produced with great care including two days cold maceration followed by five months ageing on the fermentation lees to add roundness and complexity to the wine. A fun loving wine with notes of guava, red currant and cherry with a creamy texture, this rosé loves being paired with salads, pizza and sunny aperitifs accompanied by big smiles and giggles. Serve chilled and enjoy now or for the next two years.

    Pinot-Noir Val de Loire
    0.75l Red
    Bio
    €9.99 €8.26
Frédéric Brochet loves Pinot Noir. This talented winemaker learned to make pure, fruit driven wines in Australia. He has planted the grape right in front of his headquarters at the Manoir de Lavauguyot looking south towards Futoroscope and the hills of Poitiers. This wine is organic, lively and pure with notes of kirsch, walnut and sweet spice on the nose. The taste is smooth and fruity with smoky notes and a lovely crunchy, acidity. Macerated on the skins with gentle pigeage to produce the ruby red colour and aged in French oak barrels for six months, its freshness and silky tannins make this a good match for poultry, salads, Porc filet mignon and all sorts of cheeses. Serve slightly chilled.

    Domaine Boillot
    Brussellions Moulin-à-Vent
    0.75l Red
    €19.80 €16.36
A 1.3 hectare site sitting on top of a hill, northeast of Moulin. Here ancient alluvial soils with white sands are complemented by a high percentage of red granite. There is great energy here with spicy fruit and fresh, pure flavours. The wine is long and quite rich with very fine tannin structure. Louis Boillot describes it as the synthesis of the other two cuvées.

    Château Goubau 'la Source'
    Castillon, Côtes de Bordeaux
    0.75l Red
    Bio
    €12.50 €10.33
Made from a blend of 95% Merlot grapes and 5% Cabernet Franc grapes, the second wine comes from the vineyard parcels facing south and south-west on the slopes bordering the domain's natural source. The wine is spicy and fresh with aromas of red fruits, plums and spice. On the palate the wine is fruity with delicious balance and well-integrated oak; the finish is lively and appealing.

    Château Valcombe (BIO)
    Epicure Rouge Ventoux
    0.75l Red
    Bio
    €10.70 €8.84
Luc Guénard is very proud of the 2015 vintage and especially the expression of the Grenache fruit which is evident in the bright, juicy fruit and white flower aromas. There is great purity and balance here and Luc’s natural winemaking is leading to less and less treatments and use of sulphur. We love this wine for its natural, fresh flavours and its ripe fruit, brimming with character and richness. Produced from vines that are more than 55 years old, grown on the southern slopes of Mount Ventoux but facing north-west and cooled by constant breezes, this wine is a blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Carignan and 15% Syrah. Excellent value, this organic wine just keeps getting better and better.
