Passopisciaro, Contrada Rampante "R"
Contrada Rampante "R"
Terre Siciliane IGT

The highest of the six Etna Contrada that Franchetti works with is also the most famous. With its old Nerello Mascalese vines that are reaching a century of age, the wine is venerated by many of the producers who work the slopes of the ancient volcano. Rampante is always very fragrant and aerien with notes of summer flowers mingling with the very expressive notes of gorse, sage and mineral notes from the larva soil. Coming from a 1.4-hectare parcel at 1,000 m above sea level, in 2018, there is a cooler, minty character to the wine with a beautiful, silky texture. A bright, crispy taste of raspberries and sloes appears on the palate and a precise, quite intense structure which, not for the first time, reminds us of a top Burgundy.
