Fleurie

Located in the northwest corner of the region, Fleurie is quite a large cru with 822 hectares of vineyard.  It is regarded as the most elegant and feminine of the 10 Beaujolais crus.  Produced from the Gamay grape that grow in the pink granite soils, the wines are bright ruby red in colour with floral notes of rose, peony and fruity notes of cherries and peaches.  The wines have good body and can drink well for three to five years.

Fleurie wines are good served slightly chilled with patés, white meats or creamy appetizers such as mushrooms or chicken vol au vent.
