There is a magical history at Noblaie. Legend has it the parcel of vines, still called “Les Blancs Manteaux” was where white knights collected taxes to finance their crusades to the Holy Land and the house dates back to the 15h century. A stone vat from the same period is still used to vinify the “Pierre de Tuf” or Tuffeau Rock cuvée. If you climb up to the Chiens-Chiens vineyard (I still haven’t got the etymology for this parcel) you can gaze across the river to the Château de Chinon where Joan of Arc asked the French king, Charles VII, if she could lead his army on a holy campaign.
