Carruades starts with a rather discrete nose of wood smoke, small red fruits, and a touch of spice. On the attack the wine which is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, opens up to grant easy access to the pretty combination of berried fruit and notes of orange peel and mint. This is lithe and fresh, with good, sweet fruit at the core of the wine, balancing the quite structured tannins. Very appetising and welcoming, it is already delicious.
