Château Cantemerle

Haut-Médoc
5ième Grand Cru Classé
0,75
Red
There are lots of new projects at Cantemerle: a new vat room, doubling the existing surface; a below ground barrel cellar chai to keep temperatures constant and the restoration of the château and its beautiful grounds. It sounds as if this sleeping beauty in the south of Médoc is about to wake up. We love the classical precision of this wine. Dark colour and good intensity on the sweet nose with good fruit. Made from a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot it is spicy and fresh with a touch of herbs and some wood smoke; classic with a silky, tannic undertow. Celebrated enologist, Eric Boissenot who consults at Cantemerle talks about the “joyful tannins” in the 2021 vintage.
