Château Cantemerle

Haut-Médoc
5ième Grand Cru Classé

We admire this beautiful Grand Cru Classé with its beautiful park in the south of the Médoc and since Laure Canu took over managing the estate, she has taken on so many new projects including the building of a new cellar and the renovation of the Château. She says that the biggest challenge in 2023 was knowing when to pick and this was the longest harvest ever, running from the 11th of September to the 10th of October. It was worth waiting so long for the Cabernets they ripened in perfect health and the blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. A stylistic choice was made recently to include a minimum of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. The wine has a dark purple colour, is rich and fresh. There is a pretty nose of red fruit, cassis and floral notes, the attack is very fresh and precise with pure tannins, and a good vein of fresh, acidulated black fruit that runs through the wine. There is a touch of fresh mint in the finish. Appetising and charming.

Thanks to its unique terroir, Cantemerle produces complex, well-balanced, and refined wines. After belonging to the Villeneuve (1579-1892) and Dubos (1892-1980) families, the château ...
