Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

Under the guidance of Frédéric Faye, Figeac continues to improve and the winemaking is much softer and lighter these days although Frédéric praises the efforts of the young good technical director. Jean-Pierre Roman. He describes this year as a Haute Couture vintage as there were lots of decisions to make in the vineyards such as taking off the dead buds right after the frost that was really important (there were more than 25,000 vines to mark). Very aromatic with good spice and red fruit, lots of energy and life here, good balance and a little less generous than 2015 and 2016 but instead, there is great precision and purity. The Cabernet Sauvignon mid palate is the secret apparently. Beautiful Figeac style, very classic and pure. Exiting.
