Château Fonbel

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Primeur
0,75
Red
Sadly, Fonbel suffered from mildew and only produced half the usual crop at 26 hl/ha. This family estate owned since 1971, has a wide variety of different soils and grape varieties and this vintage is made up of 64% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% of Carménère which were harvested over a long period between the 12th of September and the 4th of October. One third of the harvest is aged in oak, the rest in tanks to keep the wine fresh and juicy. There is bright ruby red colour, a fruity sweetness on the nose, good richness, and black fruit flavours on the palate with lively hints of liquorice, minerals and black pepper. It is an attractive wine for early drinking and is a great favourite of ours.
