Bike to Care
Welcome to a great initiative that we are supporting: Bike to Care. A project created by some of the greatest wine domaines in Bordeaux and Burgundy, which challenges worldwide chefs & sommeliers to cycle 200 kms in 2 days. Thienpont Wine supports the Belgian delegation and is proud to have assembled some of Belgian’s finest chefs and sommeliers. Our aim is to raise funds for 2 associations in the restaurant and hospitality sector:
Groot Eiland vzw, An organization that gives less fortunate people the chance to get a complete hospitality training and the possibility to find a job in this amazing industry. Secondly, Krok & Ko, a project for people with physical & mental disabilities, who are given the chance to run or work in their own restaurant.
Go to our GoFundMe page and contribute by donating a free to choose amount.
Groot Eiland offers talented Brussels residents who are far from the labour market the chance to develop their skills and creativity. Through training, work experience and job coaching in diverse sectors such as catering, carpentry, sales, and urban agriculture, we guide them on their way to a job. People who, for various reasons, can no longer enter the regular employment circuit find a safe and stress-free working environment here.
Bike to Care : Why?
In 2022, Pierre-Henry Gagey of Louis Jadot company and his Burgundian friends created an event called “Bike to Care” to raise funds for associations in the restaurant and hospitality sectors in general that care for people in difficulty, encourage new vocations and support the training of upcoming talent.
During its first edition, in Burgundy, 250,000€ was raised for charities around the world.
A delegation of Bordeaux estates (Haut-Bailly, Giscours and Lynch-Bages) took part in the first edition. They are committed to taking up the torch to organize this sporting and charitable challenge in Bordeaux on 8th and 9th May 2023. Médoc, Graves and Sauternes will be the focus of a course of almost 200 km through the Bordeaux countryside.
