Marsanne

Marsanne

This is a high quality aromatic white grape variety of the Rhône Valley that is a traditional blending partner of Roussanne and occasionally, Viognier.  It has recently found fame in Australia and California, riding on the coattails of Viognier.

On its own, it produces quite rich coloured white wines with good body, moderate acidity and aromas of honeysuckle, pear, almond flowers and nuts and it can age well.

It is also found in the blend of northern appellations such as Saint–Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage and Hermitage and further south in white Côtes du Rhône.
