Château Haut-Bailly

Pessac-Léognan
Grand Cru Classé de Graves
0,75
Red
This vintage seems smoother and softer than the 2018, and as Véronique Sanders says more like 2009 or 2015 in terms in seduction. Certainly it has a lovely, approachable nose with aromas of plums, cassis and rose petals. On the palate there is ripe fruit, a little chocolatey and good sweetness, then a vein of acidity kicks in with tannins wrapped up in a velvety texture. This wine has beautiful balance and seamless texture and to me seems rather shaddowy and sophisticated rather than open and flamboyant. It is elegance personified like a silk scarf trailing in the wind. (FM)

It is thanks to the efforts of André Lurton, one of the best-known growers in the area, that the appellation was formed. ...
