The wines that make up the Dillon domains had some of the highest tannins and colours ever seen. They also registered very healthy yields of around 50 hl/ha. As many other Châteaux reported, the harvest was the longest ever, running from the 21st of August until the 4th of October. The blend is 52.3% Merlot, 38.6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9/1% Cabernet Franc and the wine has a dark and intense colour with lots of richness; the nose has expressive notes of autumn fruit – berries mingle with some tobacco, balsam and woodsmoke. There is good intensity and spice on the palate and after a soft and elegant attack the wine becomes much more serious, and spicy with the tannin and the acidity driving the energy of the wine onto a vibrant, tense, and complex finish. This is a classic Haut-Brion with lots of class and complexity that beautifully reflects its terroir.

It is thanks to the efforts of André Lurton, one of the best-known growers in the area, that the appellation was formed. ...
