Juliette Couderc and her team have made a fabulous wine, the best since her arrival here and she talks about how hard everyone worked in the vineyards since the estate is made up with lots of small parcels dotted around Pomerol. By contrast, Juliette says it was the easiest vintage she has made at L’Evangile. The blend this year is 78% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, although a little more of the latter will be planted in the future. This is a classic and natural Pomerol with expressive floral aromas of violet and iris interwoven with precise berry fruit. There are tender, sweet, pretty flavours on the attack and excellent round tannins which provide a fine structure which leads to a juicy, fruity finish with great resonance. This vintage reminds us of the classis style from the time of Madame Ducasse, but with a modern precision. Super! Drink 2030 - 2058
