Château Potensac

Médoc
Primeur
0,75
Red
This is a fabulous Potensac which often far exceeds its lowly Médoc status. Serve this wine blind and it tastes like a Grand Cru. What’s more, it ages impressively well. The blend is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc which is less Merlot than usual. Here the Cabernet Sauvignon seems to take over the role of the Merlot and brings more intensity and freshness to the wine while the Merlot gives the wine appetising flavours of bitter orange and mango. The tannins are athletic and quite powerful and the aging in 40% new oak adds a sweet and creamy character to the wine. Towards the end of the palate this wine tastes more serious but the cassis freshness is very attractive. Bravo – a very good buy.
