Passopisciaro, Contrada Porcaria "P"

Contrada Porcaria "P"
Terre Siciliane IGT
0,75
Red
The brilliant estate of Andrea Franchetti on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, has, at its heart six different crus, called Contrada, which differ from each other according to the age of the lava flow, their altitude and exposure to the sun. Porcaria is perhaps the best loved: at 650 metres it is considered Mount Etna’s famous and sought-after contrada because of the lush, robust wines it produces. The soil is made of a frail sheet of lava that splinters under one’s feet. Franchetti owns 1,5 hectares of this wonderful contrada which is known for its rich, generous wines and its robust fruit. In 2018, the rain has somewhat tempered this exuberance and the wine has a fruity fragrance of blood orange and pomegranate which gives way to more earthy, balsamic flavours of cedar, leather and old spice. Fine, lush tannins lead to a balanced and elegant finish. Drink 2021-2028
