Familia Torres

A fantastic site in Priorat at 550 metres in the shadow of the Serra de Prades mountains where Torres have been able to purchase a wonderful vineyard shaped as an amphitheater and planted with very old Garnacha and Carinena grapes. Miguel Torres especially likes Carinena grapes which he feels express the variations of the soils very clearly. The ancient bush vines are over 80 years old, gnarled and intense and can withstand the high temperatures and summer droughts. This is a beautifully composed wine with velvety tannins and gorgeous ripe fruits that have a lovely freshness; raspberry, blueberries and blackcurrants underlaid with more ethereal notes of violets, herbs, minerals and rocks. Exciting to drink now it will age well for at least another decade.
