Château de Beaucastel

Just as with the 2020 reds, we immediately noticed more freshness and precision in the white wines from Beaucastel. You can almost feel the effect of the wind in the pure, clean aromas on the nose of this very elegant and classy wine. The aromas unfold gradually revealing a mineral flintiness first, and a steely, intense texture that gradually opens up in the nose and on the palate to reveal ripe fruit, balanced sweetness, floral notes of almond blossom and summer flowers and an abiding freshness. Although it is the Roussanne grape that makes up 80% of the blend, there is a fruity juiciness which the other white grape varieties bring to the wine. This is a very complete wine, at this stage a little reserved but you can feel the potential that will gradually become more apparent over the next few years. Drink young for the elegance of the fruit or in a decade for a perfect expression of texture, fruit, minerals and oak.
